Wife and husband team, Marlene and Jeff, are passionate cooks and dinner hosts extraordinaire.  They will show you how to prepare a sophisticated and fun dinner for a small group (you) and let you in on practical tips, shortcuts and plating techniques to elevate everyday meals into extraordinary ones. You can participate as little or as much as you want—think of it as a cooking class where you get to party, or a party where you’ll learn how to cook!      


Marlene will show you how to recreate the authentic flavors from her childhood and from traveling extensively throughout Asia.   Classes are often inspired by cuisines from Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, and China.  Asian cuisine is largely gluten-free and one of the tastiest and healthiest cuisines in the world.  

In this class, you will make:

Marlene will show you how to recreate the authentic flavors from her childhood and from traveling extensively throughout Asia. On a mission to introduce more Asian dishes, Marlene & Jeff went on a culinary immersion early this year, taking classes in five cooking schools in Bangkok, Bali and Siem Reap. In this class, we will make green curry paste from scratch which will be the base for both our delectable appetizer and the mildly spicy and bursting- with- flavor Thai Green Chicken Curry, one of Marlene’s all-time favorites! A Grapefruit Avocado salad will be a refreshing palate cleanser and we finish with a light dessert of Coconut Pandan Jelly.

While most butchering classes will only teach you how to obtain certain cuts of meat, in Chef Walker’s class, absolutely nothing goes to waste. You work with every part of the animal, from head to tail, learning the best preparation methods for each and every cut of meat you obtain.

The whole butchery not only promotes a greater respect for the animal you are utilizing, it encourages creativity, as you will be working with cuts of meat that may not be familiar to you! Gumbo is perhaps one of the most quintessential, important dishes in Southern cuisine. In fact, it is the official cuisine in the state of Louisiana! Gumbo is a thick, hearty type ... moreof stew which begins with a strongly flavored stock and some sort of protein which can range from shrimp to crawfish to pork or sausage. These two ingredients are then mixed with the southern “holy trinity” of celery, bell peppers and onions. Various spices are incorporated as well to give the gumbo its characteristic heat!

In this class, Chef Pendarvis will share his southern roots with you by instructing you in the art of making this important dish. With his wonderful sense of humor and love for telling stories of the Southland, he will immediately make you feel at home, creating a wonderfully fun and educational experience!

I consider myself a good cook and wasnt sure what exactly I would learn from this cooking lesson. But learn I did. There were some technical tips, some food buying tips, and I made dishes that I had never made before which was great and expanded my repertoire. The atmosphere was congenial and supportive.
