ABOUT THE ACTIVITY
Grab your friends and book an evening to learn one of the most valuable and entertaining culinary skills around! While the fresh salad and wonderful pasta dish created here is certainly spectacular, the main draw of this class is learning how to make one of the most delicious Italian desserts in existence, Tiramisu! This beloved sweet treat consists of ladyfingers drenched in expresso. These ladyfingers are then layered with a sinfully delicious mixture of eggs, sugar and mascarpone cheese! This is a dessert that many people think is too complicated to make at home, yet here you will learn how to re-create this dish that is sure to please the whole family․

This cooking class was so much fun!! Apparently we had a larger than normal group, about 30 people, but Chef Celio handled the event perfectly. In addition to the delicious food “we made”, he was entertaining and totally genuine. Would definitely want to attend one of his events again.

Awesome time!
Chef Celio was informative, funny, and engaging. I was here for a team building exercise with 5 other colleagues and we all had a blast. I went into this unenthusiastic and going through the motions but left, laughing, FULL, educated in cooking and pasta making, and glad that I went and had a great night! I highly recommend this for any size group even if cooking is not your thing. It will be when ... more your done! We made mozzarella balls, gnocchi, tortelloni, ravioli, spaghetti, and tiramisu.Good job Celio!

We went to Selfup for a group work outing and I couldn't have had a better time. Chef Celio was extremely nice, welcoming and an amazing teacher. He made something that seem complicated fun and easy to do. I really enjoy this and would highly recommend.

Fantastic afternoon spent with Chef Celio in the South End on Dec 7th! We arrived early and he was so gracious and welcoming to our group of 8. He taught us how to make Parmesan cheese salad bowls as he was still prepping, which were so incredibly delicious and easy to replicate at home. We then made fresh pasta dough in different colors for tortellini, ravioli, and fettuccini. Chef Celio was funny ... more and engaging; we really enjoyed getting to know him! We finished the afternoon with a quick lesson on tiramisu, which went great with the wine that Greg and Chef Celio provided. We made so much food together that we couldn't finish it there and were able to bring home. Absolutely wonderful lesson by a wonderful chef. Would 100% recommend!

My Team came here for our first team-building event and we couldn't have been happier with our experience!! Chef Celio was incredibly friendly, the facility was impressive, and as a bonus the food was delicious!!! We started with wine and put together an amazing salad as an appetizer. For the entrée we made 5 different types of pasta, including a GF option for a food allergy on our team. We enjoyed ... more eating our dinner and then went on to make dessert- Tiramisu! We were still eating leftovers for a couple of days after and raving about our experience - I would recommend for other corporate team-buildings or for a personal event. Thanks again, Chef Celio!

Just had a work related team building event at Self Up (about 20 people). Cello (the chef) did a wonderful job entertaining and engaging the entire group. I have done numerous team building events in the past and this was one of the best. The event provided all of us a significant amount of time to bond in a collaborative environment. Nothing brings a team together like cooking. Especially when they ... more are hungry! Thanks again Self Up!!

We had a team building exercise with Chef Celio Pereira at Self Up. Chef Celio is amazing. We spent 3 hours learning about and making Italian salad, several from scratch pasta dishes and tiramisu. Chef and his team did an outstanding job walking us through the basics and helping us learn the ins and outs of Italian cooking. Chef Celio is an excellent teacher and a master chef. It was a great evening. ... more Highly recommended.

So much fun!Went with my work colleagues to self-up after a work event. Never been good at cooking myself so I wasn't too sure what to expect. Chef Celio and his crew created a wonderful and fun atmosphere for beginners like me and some 'expert' cooks. We were able to eat the pasta we made ourselves and it was as good as any I ever had in an Italian restaurant. This cooking class is highly recommended.

5 STARS ALL THE WAY! Celio is amazing and his assistants are just as great! This was an event booked by my job for us all to get together and cook. The overall atmosphere was relaxed and fun - throughly enjoyed the 4 pasta dishes we made and the tiramisu dessert! Chef made the learning experience smooth and comfortable; whether you cook all the time or never it's a experience you'll love - I without ... more a doubt would recommend this!

Hermès Team Yelp Review for Selfup
I initially needed a team building exercise and my colleagues and I thought a cooking class would be a lot of fun. We were a large group of 13 and after calling and emailing several Boston area establishments that offer cooking classes, I began to realize that putting together a relatively large party for a cooking class within a rather small window of time would be harder than I thought.I then accidentally ... more stumbled upon Selfup and I read some amazing reviews on the classes that Selfup offers. I shot them an email and was immediately replied to by the wonderful Greg! He was super hospitable and cognizant of our deadline and he was always there with an immediate response for any questions I had. When working with a large group with differing schedules, problems are bound to arise. I had first under-booked and later on also requested to shift our agreed time to earlier in the evening as our team met up sooner than anticipated. The time shift request was on the same day by the way.Greg and his team not only came to the rescue by scheduling our extra guests the day before but began arranging our cooking stations and all the other prep work THE DAY OF. Long story short, I was all over the place and Greg accommodated us every step of the way which is very unusual in this day and age.We all opted for the Italian cooking class recommended by Greg as he felt this class would be best given our criteria. OK, on to the class!!! They booked a lovely location in the South End with plenty of parking, large enough accommodate our group but still intimate which was amazing. Greg was there to meet and greet us and made sure everything was A-OK before he left. (He had another engagement to attend to, I don't know how the man does it!)We then met the amazing Chef Celio and his wonderful assistants! Don't forget, I mentioned "team building exercise" which may come across as stale. This class was anything but stale.Chef Celio is an amazing chef with an incredible resume and wealth of knowledge. The class was super dynamic, easy to follow but most importantly fun!!! Chef Celio had a little Frank Sinatra and other Italian classics in the background to set the mood as he explained what we would be cooking and how. He gave us the histories behind the pastas, all the whys and hows. This cat is too cool for school. We made a plethora of pastas ranging from tortelloni, truffle ravioli, ricotta gnocchi and fettucine and we incorporated a number of different pastas, squid ink pasta, spinach pasta and beet pasta. A one point we combined all three to make our ravioli and this was one of the most beautiful pastas I've ever seen! Chef Celio and his crew were there every step of the way to show us that beautiful and delicious pasta made fresh and from scratch is much easier than you would think! We than started to make fresh made mozzarella for a salad which was a blast and Chef Celio showed us a VERY nifty and delicious trick to make a parmesan cup to act as our salad bowls. (I'm not going to spoil it, JUST GO and see for yourselves.)We sat down to eat our delicious salads while the pastas were finishing up and in true Italian fashion, we were served our pastas family style and we all bonded over a lot of laughs and delicious food. The finale was a homemade Tiramisu which....well, we had as leftovers at work today; it was so good. I realize this is a long review but I'm big on giving credit where credit is due and this was the highlight of the year for me and my team. A big thank you to Chef Celio, his team and Greg for putting together such a wonderful experience. Time to go and make some pasta at home. We'll see how that goes.

I took the Italian Brunch class with Celio Pereira, which focused on salad, homemade mozzarella, pasta, and tiramisu. I've always been too intimidated to attempt mozzarella or pasta from scratch, but Celio made it SO simple. Even though the class was large (~20 people), he gave each person individual attention and had us all working together by the end. I still can't believe how incredible everything ... more turned out. With a combination of demonstration and practice, followed by plenty of time for tasting (my personal favorite), I really understood how all of the steps came together to form the restaurant-quality finished product. And I *really* mean restaurant quality. It was to DIE for - it would make anyone's Italian grandmother proud. After just a few short hours, I feel fully equipped to tackle my own Italian brunch, start to finish. Celio's bubbliness and attention to his students is really an experience you cannot miss. Plus --- this makes a great date!

Such a fun experience!! We did Chef Celio's Italian Dinner with Tiramisu Finale cooking class with, where we made four kinds of pasta dishes, fresh burrata salad and tiramisu - all from scratch! :) Chef Celio has 32 years experience in Italian cuisine and made the class super interactive and fun! The class was a total of about 12-15 people, a great size to meet some new people and interact. There ... more were also some appetizers and drinks available for us to enjoy while we prepared the food! After about two hours of cooking, everyone sat down at a communal table and enjoyed the delicious dinner together! These classes are also great for team building/group activity and very reasonably priced for 3 hour cooking class + full dinner! Can't wait to try their dumpling and chocolate making classes!

I've never taken a cooking class before and was blown away over how fun this was and how easy it was to follow along. The Italian cooking class was about ten people which was the perfect size. It was also located right in the North End which was not only convenient but felt very authentic. Chef Celio was a great teacher and made ever step simple and fun. He was the head chef at Mamma Maria in the ... more North End for 17 years and if you know anything about Italian in the North End, you know just exactly how impressive that is. We started the night with plenty of wine (an unexpected but awesome treat) and then we made fresh mozzarella to put on a salad. As an added bonus, because we had some extra time, we even got to make a parmesan cup to put the salad in (and I'm always a fan of incorporating more cheese into a meal). For the pasta we made ricotta gnocchi, truffle ravioli, truffle tortelloni, and fettucine -- some regular pasta and some squid ink pasta. It was really cool to learn how to make multiple types of pasta and everyone had a hand in making each dish. Turns out making pasta is pretty easy! I'll definitely start doing it at home now. After a couple hours of cooking, the class sat down together to eat and it was amazing how a bunch of strangers came together to cook something so delicious. By the end, I truly feel like I made some new friends. To finish, we all had a blast making homemade tiramisu. Definitely recommend for a birthday, anniversary, work event, or just a girl's night out. It's probably one of the most affordable cooking classes I've found and we made so much food!

I've always been wary of cooking classes because 70% of the time, I can't eat what we cook being a vegetarian. However, I found the Vegetarian Italian cooking class on the SelfUp website and was so excited to try it! Our class was in the South End (lots of parking available) and we were anxious to make some homemade Italian food. There were drinks (wine!) and small apps when we got there and then ... more we got started with the class. The instructor, Celio, made the pasta dough (you have to make a lot for a class of 15), but he showed us how to make it. The first pasta we made was a tortelloni (a larger tortellini) with a homemade ricotta filling. We got to roll and stuff them, which was cool! Then we put them to the side and got started on the next one which was linguini. Next we made a ricotta based gnocchi (found I like this much better than potato based ones). Finally, we did the beet spaghetti. Once we prepared all the pastas, we made our own individual tiramisu. This was our favorite part! We let them sit for an hour while we prepared homemade mozzarella from cheese curds to make a salad. Finally, we sat down for dinner (with our salads that we prepared) while Chef Celio put the pasta dishes together. The first dish was the tortelloni with a puttanesca sauce (SO GOOD!). The second was the ricotta based gnocchi with a brown butter sage sauce (I literally could not stop eating this). Next up was fettuccine alfredo, which was Josh's favorite. Our whole group was so full after these that we didn't cook the beet spaghetti and instead got to take bags of it home. We finished off the evening with our tiramisu. The whole night was SO much fun. We think it's a great date night activity, but also great for team building. Loved every second and we didn't want it to end. AND we left full! Could not have been better. Thank you SelfUp and Chef Celio!

I have known many chef's in my life time, but chef Celio is by far one of the best chef's I know. He is absolutely amazing. He's skills are off that charts when it comes to cooking. Extremely professional and an absolutely great friend.
